Biomechanics for SI Joint Dysfunction

Anna Vodka

One year ago, I was on the verge of 40 but feeling like I was trapped I the body of an 80-year-old. I was exhausted by years of searching for answers and relief within the health care system, and resigning myself to the fact that this was by body, a body in chronic pain. I can’t even think about it without crying.

I cannot express how life-changing it feels to have hope again, to feel strong again, to lift and move and spend whole hours of my day without pain. And I know this sounds like an infomercial, too good to be true, but it is true.

You have given me the best gift I’ve ever received. Thank you. My partner and my whole family thank you, too.

Katy Atkiss, yoga instructor & cycling enthusiast

Before practicing with Allison, I was in low-grade pain pretty consistently in my hips and low back, with my SI joint locked up. After about three sessions my pain went away and stays away as long as I put what I’ve learned into practice.

Allison sees how I use my body and targets the areas where I need strength and balance. And often knows what I need next before we even meet. I so appreciate my practice with her!

Joint Pain Relief with Biomechanics

Norma McOmber

“I have been working with Allison since September 2022. She helped me prepare for a total knee replacement at the end of September 2022, and a second one in October 2022. Her exercises increased strength and flexibility in my legs and hips before the surgeries.

Allison’s focused, gentle and supportive live sessions since the surgeries have gone beyond addressing just the rehabilitation of my knees. The specific exercises she’s taught me—many of which she has created—are re-aligning my body to complement shifted angles the knee replacements created in my hips and back. My balance is better. Some lower back pain has completely resolved.

Most recently exercises she taught me addressed restrictions that suddenly arose from a frozen left shoulder in February 2023. Her coaching on breath awareness has been helping deepen the mindfulness with which I move.

I am confident the body knowledge and mindfulness of movement Allison’s teaching me will help me maintain an active lifestyle as long as possible.”

Labral Tear Relief with Biomechanics to Realign Hip Joint

Kerri Niemeyer, dancer

“I had intense hip pain due to torn cartilage in the acetabular labrum (hip joint). Even after following my osteopathic surgeon’s prescribed treatment of cortisone shots and physical therapy, I still had daily pain and I was unable to use my body in the ways I most enjoyed. I was told the next step was surgery. I felt completely stuck.

Then I found Allison. She assured me that her work could allow me to avoid surgery and that I could eventually be pain free. And that is precisely what happened.”

Sacroiliac Joint Relief with The SI Joint Clinic

Katherine Little

“For 6 years I have experienced hip pain and restrictions that led me to stop moving in ways that I love. When I developed SI Joint dysfunction I found myself in near constant pain and afraid of moving my body. Thanks to Allison & Varina and thier SI Joint Clinic, I have a better understanding of my imbalances and how to bring strength and balance back into my hips.

Their occupational movements have 100% helped me walk better, sit better, work better and all around move better. I'm no longer afraid of moving my body, rather I am excited to get on my mat each day and continue this work.”

SI joint relief

Deborah Fields

“I just finished a course on how to live a better life with SI joint issues and it was fantastically life changing!!! I had twenty years of physical therapy and joint injections and my flare-ups were getting worse and more often. I then found out that the only option was a surgery that had minimal success rates.

I was desperate and depressed and started my quest to find something that could help. That’s when I found The 6 week SI Joint Clinic. I can’t tell you how much I learned that I didn’t learn in seeing 4 different physical therapists!!!

AND the real magic is that it gave me my life back! It not only helped my SI joint issues but it also helped pelvic floor issues, neck issues and shoulder issues! I can’t recommend this course enough. It was structured in a way that worked with my busy schedule and I never lacked for 1:1 help when I needed it. Well, well worth the money! Highly recommend!!!

Melody Peeples, yoga teacher

“I could rave about Allison’s expertise and knowledge about anatomy and physioiogy or her desire to truly connect with each individual.  But I believe that all of that can be rolled up into just one statement — Her classes make my whole body and mind smile.”

Biomechanics for Triathletes

Robbie Robins

“I want to let you know how my first ever Ironman 70.3 race went. I was hoping to be under 6 hours with the most optimistic scenario being 5:45. My final time was 5:35, good for 2nd place in my age group! My place earned an invitation to the 2023 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Lahti, Finland next August, which I accepted.

I'd like to thank you for the part you have played in achieving that milestone. What you have taught me had a huge impact on me and my training. I could not have done it without you.”

Lynx Myers

“I have been working with Allison Bond over a year now on my scoliosis and SI joint pain. This work and the Bond Method has changed my life in many ways. My body has truly transformed and become stronger. I walk around with less pain and with the tools to create balance and flow to my body. I have felt the shifting of my spine and the development of strength that supports the SI joint has been a life changer, as I feel my strength holding my posture. I can also tell the height difference of my shoulders is more even and that my spine is getting straighter and the curves less extreme. This has given me hope and confidence in my wellness!

Allison has tailored exercises specifically for me. The one-on-one as well as the community yoga sessions, and Facebook group has been a perfect way for me to work on myself at home and in a way that fits my schedule any day! The expert knowledge she has of mechanics, the body and yoga has blown me away. I highly recommend Allison for your healing needs.”

Tammy Manning

“Allison’s private lessons have been one of my greatest discoveries in recent years. I’m not one to exercise when I can avoid it, but I actually look forward to yoga each week and can tell a considerable difference in how I feel if I have to miss a session. Allison has an amazing depth of knowledge and can lead you through exercises that address any problem area. She has my full confidence and devotion!”

Jennifer

“The EFT session were so beautiful.  The way Varina worked in that mind-body session with that woman with such compassion and tenderness - was so beautiful to see how she held that human being as she was dealing with her pain.  It was beautiful to watch.”

Anna

“Really appreciated this intro to mind-body EFT and really glad we are starting our sessions this way.  I can’t always internalize the words themselves (that part may come).  It’s such a grounding, meditative, tension-relieving practice before the movement.  And Varina’s positive energy is contagious!”

Debbie Field

“I’ve enjoyed and benefited from The 3-Day Hip & SI Clinic.  For me, decades of SI issues, the reset was worth the price of admission.  The decompression yesterday was great too.  I love the EFT (first time was amazing).  I’ll be doing more of that and am interested in understanding the method.”

Lisa Kennedy

“I have been a private client of Allison’s for more than four years now and can say, with confidence, our work together has increased not only my physical health but also my mental health. Allison has the ability to tailor our sessions to address any specific issue or desire — from aches and pains to core strengthening. She is the consummate professional and also extremely personable. I never hesitate to recommend her, given the opportunity.”

Yarrow Summers

“I  just want to say if there is one word to describe what we are all looking for, I think it would be “illumination.”  We are all in pain.  We have all tried numerous treatments and we are all at a place where we are looking for answers as to why we are still in pain after all our efforts to find a way out of it.  I think it is safe to say that this safe space being held for us by Allison & Varina, infused with their knowledge and experience, will be exactly the opportunity for each of us to find what we need in this moment.  I feel blessed to be here.”

Vivian C.

“Before the SI Clinic I was in pain.  I couldn’t practice yoga anymore and I had trouble climbing stairs and tucking my son in at night.  It was really affecting my life, my job, having to sit for a long time.  By the sixth week of the Clinic, I was able to attend yoga class again without pain and tuck my son in.  Their tips on how to sit for a long time were also a game changer for my ability to do my job comfortably.

I highly recommend The SI Joint Clinic to anyone suffering with SI joint pain.”

Piriformis Syndrome Relief with Biomechanics

Elisa, runner

“A few months ago I had piriformis syndrome, which affects the sciatic nerve. It was painful and left me unable to run. I had no idea that my hips were related to the pain, but they were. Allison showed me a couple of things to do that relieved the pain immediately. After that relief she then worked with me on ways to prevent it from happening again in the future. I would recommend her to any runner who wants to stay fit, strong, healthy and free of injury.”

J. DeBevek

“I am true believer of Allison Bond’s methods. At age 74, my back pain had been diagnosed as an SI joint weakness and although several years of therapy had improved my condition, I was still susceptible to temporary setbacks. Allison’s targeted approach to my problem stressed the connection of posture and balance and helped strengthen weakened muscles in my lower back and hips. The positive results were almost immediate. Her follow through helps keep me on track.”

Jenny Trimmer

“I have been studying with Allison for over 4 years and I keep coming back to her. Her classes are always evolving, she has such a caring approach, and gives a lot of attention to detail. I always leave her class with new insights and a deeper understanding of what my practice is about.”

Natalie Forster, RD, Holistic Nutritionist

“Allison is one of the knowledgable people I know when it comes to naturally and sustainably relieving pain in the body. I highly encourage you to attend her movement labs.”

Nikki Jamali

“Finding out my 13 year old daughter had scoliosis and needed to be braced, was a difficult time and transition not only for my daughter, but for all of us! Thanks to Allison and her exceptional knowledge in her field, her patience, her compassion, and encouragement, she has been able to help us in many ways. Our private sessions with her have not only been beneficial to my daughter physically, but also mentally. We look forward and enjoy every session with her. I couldn’t imagine anyone more competent and knowledgeable in her field.”

Lisa Millenbah

“While I appreciate and admire aspects of all styles of yoga, I haven’t stuck with any one practice for the long haul. Each of the yoga practices I’ve tried seemed like they might be a real possibility, but ultimately were either too hot, too fast or too demanding of my physical limitations (I had breast cancer and now have secondary lymphedema in my right arm).  Sure that there must be a teacher or practice that would be a good fit for me, I discovered Allison Bond.

Allison is knowledgeable, thoughtful, encouraging and understanding in her approach.  She expertly assesses my abilities and limitations and guides me through movements while promoting a focus on breathing.   Her expertise in alignment, body systems and how even the slightest movements impact joints means that I feel like I’m in safe hands as I practice with Allison. In fact, rather than stop practicing with Allison through injuries (unrelated to yoga), we’ve been able to move my body as I’ve recovered - building an even stronger foundation and support for my body going forward.

An added bonus in working with Allison is that she recognizes the strong mind/body connection in all of us.  I have found that through my yoga practice with Allison, as my body lets go and becomes more open, I find that I’ve become more forgiving, more relaxed and much happier with myself. The idea of accepting myself in the moment, rather than seeing my limitations in a dark light has actually helped me work through them and come out much stronger both physically and mentally.”

Soraya Şato

“Discovering I had scoliosis and would need to wear a rigid brace for the majority of the day was incredibly hard for me to adjust to, especially in the beginning. However, after just one session with Allison, I knew I would be getting the help I needed and felt more positive about the transition. Since then, she has made every visit enjoyable, interesting, and productive, providing me with specific exercises which help me stay aware of my body, posture, breathing, and overall health. I couldn’t do it without her!”
