Here’s what a few of our clients have to say…
Anna Vodka
One year ago, I was on the verge of 40 but feeling like I was trapped I the body of an 80-year-old. I was exhausted by years of searching for answers and relief within the health care system, and resigning myself to the fact that this was by body, a body in chronic pain. I can’t even think about it without crying.
I cannot express how life-changing it feels to have hope again, to feel strong again, to lift and move and spend whole hours of my day without pain. And I know this sounds like an infomercial, too good to be true, but it is true.
You have given me the best gift I’ve ever received. Thank you. My partner and my whole family thank you, too.
Norma McOmber
“I have been working with Allison since September 2022. She helped me prepare for a total knee replacement at the end of September 2022, and a second one in October 2022. Her exercises increased strength and flexibility in my legs and hips before the surgeries.
Allison’s focused, gentle and supportive live sessions since the surgeries have gone beyond addressing just the rehabilitation of my knees. The specific exercises she’s taught me—many of which she has created—are re-aligning my body to complement shifted angles the knee replacements created in my hips and back. My balance is better. Some lower back pain has completely resolved.
Most recently exercises she taught me addressed restrictions that suddenly arose from a frozen left shoulder in February 2023. Her coaching on breath awareness has been helping deepen the mindfulness with which I move.
I am confident the body knowledge and mindfulness of movement Allison’s teaching me will help me maintain an active lifestyle as long as possible.”
Kerri Niemeyer, dancer
“I had intense hip pain due to torn cartilage in the acetabular labrum (hip joint). Even after following my osteopathic surgeon’s prescribed treatment of cortisone shots and physical therapy, I still had daily pain and I was unable to use my body in the ways I most enjoyed. I was told the next step was surgery. I felt completely stuck.
Then I found Allison. She assured me that her work could allow me to avoid surgery and that I could eventually be pain free. And that is precisely what happened.”
Lisa Kennedy
“I have been a private client of Allison’s for more than four years now and can say, with confidence, our work together has increased not only my physical health but also my mental health. Allison has the ability to tailor our sessions to address any specific issue or desire — from aches and pains to core strengthening. She is the consummate professional and also extremely personable. I never hesitate to recommend her, given the opportunity.”
Tammy Manning
“Allison’s private lessons have been one of my greatest discoveries in recent years. I’m not one to exercise when I can avoid it, but I actually look forward to yoga each week and can tell a considerable difference in how I feel if I have to miss a session. Allison has an amazing depth of knowledge and can lead you through exercises that address any problem area. She has my full confidence and devotion!”
Katy Atkiss, yoga instructor & outdoor activity enthusiast
Before practicing with Allison, I was in low-grade pain pretty consistently in my hips and low back, with my SI joint locked up. After about three sessions my pain went away and stays away as long as I put what I’ve learned into practice.
Allison sees how I use my body and targets the areas where I need strength and balance. And often knows what I need next before we even meet. I so appreciate my practice with her!
Robbie Robins, triathlete & swim coach
“I want to let you know how my first ever Ironman race went. I was hoping to be under 6 hours with the most optimistic scenario being 5:45. My final time was 5:35, good for 2nd place in my age group! My place earned an invitation to the 2023 Ironman World Championships in Finland next August, which I accepted.
I'd like to thank you for the part you have played in achieving that milestone. What you have taught me had a huge impact on me and my training. I could not have done it without you.”
Elisa, runner
“A few months ago I had piriformis syndrome, which affects the sciatic nerve. It was painful and left me unable to run. I had no idea that my hips were related to the pain, but they were. Allison showed me a couple of things to do that relieved the pain immediately. After that relief she then worked with me on ways to prevent it from happening again in the future. I would recommend her to any runner who wants to stay fit, strong, healthy and free of injury.”
Lisa Millenbah
“While I appreciate and admire aspects of all styles of yoga, I haven’t stuck with any one practice for the long haul. Each of the yoga practices I’ve tried seemed like they might be a real possibility, but ultimately were either too hot, too fast or too demanding of my physical limitations (I had breast cancer and now have secondary lymphedema in my right arm). Sure that there must be a teacher or practice that would be a good fit for me, I discovered Allison Bond.
Allison is knowledgeable, thoughtful, encouraging and understanding in her approach. She expertly assesses my abilities and limitations and guides me through movements while promoting a focus on breathing. Her expertise in alignment, body systems and how even the slightest movements impact joints means that I feel like I’m in safe hands as I practice with Allison. In fact, rather than stop practicing with Allison through injuries (unrelated to yoga), we’ve been able to move my body as I’ve recovered - building an even stronger foundation and support for my body going forward.
An added bonus in working with Allison is that she recognizes the strong mind/body connection in all of us. I have found that through my yoga practice with Allison, as my body lets go and becomes more open, I find that I’ve become more forgiving, more relaxed and much happier with myself. The idea of accepting myself in the moment, rather than seeing my limitations in a dark light has actually helped me work through them and come out much stronger both physically and mentally.”
